Hit the Slopes – Ski & Snowboard
Our runs range in levels of difficulty (all can be found on our trail map) so no matter your skill level, there is a path here calling your name. Our hill also maintains a terrain park for those looking to master some new obstacles and show off their skills.
Our Snow Sports School instructors are available for anyone who would like to schedule a lesson and we offer ski and snowboard rentals for those who do not have their own gear or are looking to test out something new!
Visit our Gun Barrel and Caribou Lodges for food options, rentals, bathrooms, and other amenities! Want to stay on the hill for a few nights? We also offer lodging options. Check available cabins here.
Winter Make the Trek
The Wolverine Nordic Ski Trails, adjacent to Big Powderhorn Mountain and maintained by volunteers with the Wolverine Nordic Ski Club, offer 24K of cross country ski trails including several loops for classic and skate skiing. A one ride lift ticket for lift #4 is available at the Big Powderhorn Mountain Main Lodge for $2 to get you close to the trail. A $10 donation is also requested for use of the trail system to help with maintenance.
The Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort rental department (located in the main Gun Barrel Lodge) rents cross country skis during the winter ski season.

Include Map
Following the same paths as the Wolverine Nordic Ski Trails, the Wolverine Snowshoe Trails and Wolverine Winter Fat Tire Bike Trails, adjacent to Big Powderhorn Mountain and maintained by volunteers with the Wolverine Nordic Ski Club, include 14K of marked snowshoe trails and 7K of snow bike trails located conveniently close to Ironwood and Bessemer in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The rolling terrain offers trails for all levels of skiing, snowshoeing, snow biking, hiking, and trail running.
Please remember that cross country skiers have the right-of-way on these trails, use caution when crossing and do not snowshoe, bike, or walk on groomed trails.
The Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort rental department (located in the main Gun Barrel Lodge) rents snowshoes daily during the winter season.

Elevate your Big Powderhorn experience and rent one of our “Wine Huts” – ski-in, ski-out, trailside day-use cabins equipped with a wood stove or fireplace and large outdoor deck for your private lunch, get-together, or to warm up on the hill and have a snack or beverage during your ski day.
We will light the fireplace/woodstove, stock the wine hut with firewood for you to maintain the fire, and provide the grill, charcoal, and staff to transport your food by snowmobile to the wine huts.
Wine Huts are ski/snowboard access only. For safety reasons, we will not transport non-skiers to the Wine Huts, nor are non-ski/snowboarders permitted to hike up the ski hill to a wine hut. Please, no fragile items, chairs, sleds, toboggans, snowshoes, or similar non-ski or snowboard devices in the Wine Huts.

Lower Wine Hut – $80/day
Located on the lower portion of Ricochet.
Excellent views of the bottom of the hill, including Lifts 4, 5, 6, and 7.
